A collection of visual experiments taking inspiration from the visionary designers looking afresh at commonplace natural substances, in an effort to transform their functional purpose with the aim of positively impacting our immediate future.

This particular project was inspired by those designers working with waste material, primarily human hair, to explore its pure potential as a raw material, reducing waste, environmental problems and the pressure on other non-renewable materials.

They use knotting, macrame and weaving techniques to create an array of experimental products with a material that is so often familiar and available and yet still too alien for mainstream commercial use.

One piece was exhibited at the Florence Biennale 2023.
